Take a moment and think with me about the following typical characteristics of adults:
-
- Eles já têm uma bagagem de vida.
-
- Utilize both cognitive and affective memory.
-
- They are always eager to share what they already know and think.
With that in mind, it’s easy to see that a class aimed at this audience needs to be:
-
- Deeper and better done.
-
- Interactive, valuing the experience and opinions of the students.
-
- With themes that evoke memories and prior knowledge.
Often, we end up offering classes based on our own experiences, after all, we’re adults too. But if the idea is to create quality programs with truly engaging classes, it’s necessary to go beyond intuition and think about every detail, every class, and the curriculum as a whole.

How about doing a quick self-assessment of your last few classes?
Answering questions like “Do I think about my students when I select content?”, “Do I understand what they yearn for and what their doubts are about life?” or “Do I see them as adults or just as students, without considering their specific characteristics?” can give you a new perspective.
